About Training at The Family Connection
The Family Connection believes in the value of education and personal growth. We are intentional in creating training opportunities that meet the needs of the communities we live and work in. We work to empower the community by sharing information that will help increase insight and understanding.
Practicum and Internship Program
We invest in the next generation of mental health clinicians through our practicum and internship program. Students follow a structured intern plan that supports their professional development throughout the semester. Interns work closely with their Clinical Supervisors to develop essential clinical skills that enhance their ability to make a difference in their clients lives. Interns participate in weekly individual and group supervisions.

Community-Based Training
Training for the general public takes place through interviews with local news stations and intentional postings on our Social Media accounts. We provide overviews of mental health, trends and issues in addition to sharing effective coping skills. Team members have provided training on billing and coding to local chapters of the American Academy of Professional Coding. CEO Amanda Davison has provided multiple trainings for the Women’s Economic Self-Sufficiency Team (WESST).
